Arthouse Malpais was built from the ground up by a variety of people with different skills and visions who came together and contributed to the creation of something unique. We want to continue this tradition with our guests by providing an inspiring environment that promotes sharing of skills and showcasing your works.

WORKSHOPS
We offer workshops at two time periods. In the dry season (Nov-Apr) we offer wood sculpting workshops for a handful of people, provided by the owner and accomplished wood artist Hendoc. In the wet season (May-Jul) when the region receives less tourists, Hendoc’s son Nick hosts wood surfboard building and shaping workshops.

Surf
The home break (Marazul), Playa Carmen, "Lajas" in Cabuya are only a few of the numerous consistent breaks along the "Tip of the Peninsula".
Every level surfer will find a break to enjoy the waves.
We couldn’t be more blessed to host our guests in one of the most beautiful and biodiverse countries on the planet. The Malpais area provides a feeling of remoteness combined with plentiful experiences to take part in besides the workshops we provide. Below are just some of the activities we recommend.
Nature
Neighboring the Cabo Blanco National Park, our garden is visited daily by all kinds of animals such as coatis, iguanas, macaws, toucans, colibris, capuchins.
A howler monkey family lives in the Balsa trees next to the kitchen and greet you every morning with their "howl"
Culinary
Along the 5km beach road from the Mal Pais Fishing Village to Playa Hermosa you will find over 100 restaurants with chefs from all over the world preparing fresh fish and other specialties in countless ways.
